Who are we?
A small indie studio founded in Troy, New York by students of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
We are a diverse team that aims to use our experiences growing up as persons of color to share our own story with the world. We come from various backgrounds that include inner city, suburbs, and rural areas From across the nation and beyond including Springfield, Massachusetts – Chicago, Illinois – San Francisco, California – The DMV – Guyana – Ecuador.
Why are we doing this?
Someone once told us that, “All these kids grew up with a silver spoon in their mouths, they don’t know what it means to struggle. Everyone knows their story already.”
GEM Game Studio was formed by persons of color looking for a voice. Their mission is to create games that hold more value and meaning to them than most modern games do.
Here at GEM Game Studio, we believe that there are so many stories yet to be told. There are countless real, life-changing experiences that popular writers of today never got to experience and therefore could never write about.
At GEM Game studio we aim to use personalized stories to touch upon the realities of the world today and bring to light the everyday horrors that many individuals face regarding social justice issues.
